Tsamichas Law Firm attended this year’s Thessaloniki International Fair (ΔΕΘ), Greece’s foremost annual exhibition and a key meeting point for business, government and innovation.

Meeting with the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport

A central moment of the visit was the meeting with the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Mr. Christos Dimas, at the pavilion of the Hellenic Railways Organisation (OSE). During his visit to the pavilion, the Minister took the driver’s seat of the advanced train simulator installed at the OSE stand and “drove” a train under fully realistic conditions. He was briefed by the simulator’s operator on the system’s capabilities for the training of new train drivers, and highlighted the role of modern technology in upgrading the Greek railway system.

A new era in train driver training

The simulator showcased at ΔΕΘ reflects a fundamental shift in how train drivers are trained in Greece. Training is no longer carried out on actual trains or live routes. Instead, trainees practise on state-of-the-art simulators replicating real operating conditions, with scenarios ranging from basic operations to complex emergency situations. The result is a safer, more thorough and more standardised training process for the next generation of Greek train drivers.
