Tsamichas Law Firm Acts as Legal Counsel to Hitachi Rail in the Kalamaria Extension of the Thessaloniki Metro

Tsamichas Law Firm has acted as legal counsel to Hitachi Rail in connection with the Kalamaria Extension of the Thessaloniki Metro, providing legal support throughout the successful delivery of this significant transport infrastructure project.

The Kalamaria Extension has now officially entered service, marking an important milestone in the development of Thessaloniki’s urban transport network. The extension comprises five new stations and almost 5 km of new metro line, connecting the eastern part of the city with the centre in under 20 minutes and significantly improving connectivity for residents and visitors.

The project was officially inaugurated in the presence of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Hatzidakis, Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Christos Dimas, Deputy Minister of Development Stavros Kalafatis, European Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism Apostolos Tzitzikostase delle Elliniko Metro Chief Executive Officer Christos Fafoutis, together with representatives of the organisations and companies involved in its delivery.

The completion of the Kalamaria Extension also reflects the long-standing collaboration between Tsamichas Law Firm and Hitachi Rail in Greece. Over the years, the Firm has provided legal counsel and support to Hitachi Rail in connection with significant rail and infrastructure projects, assisting with the complex contractual, regulatory and legal matters that accompany the delivery of major transport infrastructure.
